112 – Emergency Services in Spain
The primary emergency number for life-threatening situations in Spain — and across Europe — is 112. For less urgent matters, a variety of other numbers and helplines are available to provide assistance. Spain’s emergency services consist of the police (Policía), fire brigade (Cuerpo de Bomberos), and ambulance service (Ambulancia).
To reach any of these services, dial the universal European emergency number 112 from any phone. There is no need for national area codes, even when calling 112 from a foreign mobile. Calls are free, from both landlines and mobiles. Calls can be made from mobile phones even when they are blocked, when the SIM card is inactive, or there is no coverage from the mobile phone provider.
