Feria del Moscatel – What to Expect This Year

The Feria del Moscatel in Chipiona marks the start of feria season along the Cádiz coast. For those staying in Costa Ballena, it’s often the first opportunity of the year to step into a traditional Andalusian feria without travelling far.

When is the Chipiona Feria 2026?

The Feria del Moscatel runs from 8 to 12 April 2026, centred around Parque Blas Infante and Avenida de la Constitución.

The layout remains familiar each year. Around 17 casetas line the main avenue, while the fairground rides are set just across in Parque Poeta Miguel Hernández, keeping everything within a short walking distance.

What the Feria in Chipiona Feels Like

Compared to larger ferias inland, Chipiona feels more compact and easier to read. You can walk through the entire recinto in a short time, but the atmosphere builds slowly, especially in the evening.

Casetas open from midday, but most people arrive later in the day. By the time the lights come on during the alumbrado on Wednesday evening, the space is already active — and from there, the nights stretch naturally.

What stands out is how social it feels. Groups move between casetas, conversations carry into the open, and the music rarely stays contained. It’s less about a single performance and more about how the evening develops.

Day vs Evening – When to Go

Late afternoon is the easiest way in. You can walk the area, get a sense of the layout, and ease into the atmosphere. But evenings are when the feria comes into its own.

From sunset onwards, the pace changes. Tables fill, music becomes more present, and the space starts to connect. Like most ferias, it’s not something that peaks at a fixed time — it builds gradually.

Easy to Reach from Costa Ballena

From Costa Ballena, Chipiona is just a short drive away. That makes it easy to visit for a few hours rather than planning a full day around it.

You can spend the morning by the sea or on the golf course, and then head into Chipiona in the evening. That flexibility is part of what makes feria season work so well in this area.

Feria season continues just weeks later in nearby Rota. See what to expect from the Rota Feria 2026 and how it compares.

Part of the Wider Feria Season in Andalucía

The Feria del Moscatel is one of the first stops in a wider sequence of ferias that move across Andalucía throughout spring and early summer.

Planning Your Visit

The key is not to over-plan. Arrive before sunset, walk through the casetas, and let the evening build naturally. The structure is there — but the experience comes from how you move through it. For many visitors, this first feria of the season sets the tone for everything that follows.
